Overview

We are seeking an individual to join a team that is focused on producing high performance solar cells. The candidate could be a Mechanical Engineer/Technician with knowledge of electronics, sensors and some programming or the candidate could be an Electrical Engineer/Technician with mechanical knowledge.  This position will conceptualize, design, prototype, test, analyze, commercialize and document engineering solutions to implement manufacturing and technology initiatives.  

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver engineering designs and documentation for commercialization
• Research and gather information
• Perform capacity and capability analysis
• Perform financial analysis and feasibility studies to identify and define opportunities
• Develop product design solutions by completing design analysis and calculations, evaluating options, performing studies, selecting optimum design solutions
• Work independently in design and testing efforts
• Coordinate with production team to ensure compatibility with manufacturing process
• Maintain product budget by tracking developmental costs and identifying probable manufacturing  costs
• Provide technical support to other departments, assist with production line developments
• Conduct lab research directed at finding solutions and advancements
• Independently write technical reports, proposals and technical presentations
• Participate in conferences and other events to promote findings and advancements
• Recommend alterations to development and design in effort to improve existing process

Job Requirements

• Experience and or willingness to work with hazardous chemicals
• Ability to use, set up and calibrate laboratory equipment
• Ability to analyze experimental, test, or analysis findings
• Ability to communicate effectively with scientists and engineers
• Ability to develop, produce and use electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Experience with temperature, pressure, and other sensors
• Adheres to all safety and protocol policies
• Ability to work flexible schedule

Minimum Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering, Bachelor’s preferred
• 3 – 4 years hands on engineering experience
• Experience in a research environment a plus
• Experience in manufacturing a plus
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
