North East, MD (May 8, 2007) – Blue Square Energy (BSE), a developer and manufacturer of high-performance silicon solar cells, announced today that Janis Studer has joined the company as Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Studer brings more than 20 years of broad experience in finance, operations and manufacturing to the position.
Ms. Studer spent eleven years with Cabot Corporation, a specialty chemicals company based in Boston, MA, where she most recently served as Vice President of North American Shared Services. In this role, she was responsible for building a centralized shared services to provide transactional support for all regional businesses. She oversaw the monthly close and controllership transactions, customer service, purchasing, supply chain planning, logistics and billing for Cabot’s North American operations.
While at Cabot, Ms. Studer also held positions as Vice President of Global Supply Chain, Vice President / Corporate Treasurer and Regional Director of New Business Development in Asia Pacific. During her time in Asia, she conducted business in Malaysia, China and Japan. She was responsible for developing and implementing long-range regional plans for business segments, with a strong emphasis on expansion in China. For five years, Ms. Studer was the Chief Financial Officer of the Cabot Performance Materials (now SuperMetals) business, a key supplier to the electronics industry.
Prior to joining Blue Square, Ms. Studer served as a financial consultant with a start-up manufacturer aggressively exploring spin-off opportunities. She has also held finance and operations positions with Beard and Associates, Stortz and Associates, Catalyst Consultants and Arco Chemical Company.

Among her responsibilities, Ms. Studer will oversee the company’s financial transactions and reporting, including its institutional investments. She will also be heavily involved in developing and managing global partnerships, specifically in Asia and Europe. Ms. Studer will work closely with the BSE team to provide a robust strategic planning process to insure the proper resources are in place for rapid growth.
